Heat Pump Repair · San Antonio, TXHeat pump acting up? We’ll sort it out.
A heat pump heats and cools with the same equipment, so one failed part can take out both. We test the reversing valve, defrost controls, refrigerant charge and backup heat strips, then show you what we found before any work starts.

Same box, opposite job.
Many heat pumps here are paired with electric strips or a gas furnace. We check every heat source on the call, not just the outdoor unit.
What it usually is, and what we do about it.
The common patterns we see across Bexar County. Yours gets diagnosed with gauges, not this table — but it tells you what to expect.
Tell us your symptomWhen the heat pump needs looking at.
Texas heating seasons are short, which is exactly why problems go unnoticed until the first hard freeze — the night everyone in the county calls at once.
Gas heat is a safety inspection too.
A furnace burns fuel a few feet from the air your family breathes. Anything we find on the safety side gets shown to you, in plain language, before we talk about comfort.
Four steps, no surprises.

Heat pump questions, answered straight.
More of them, with numbers, on the questions page →
Why does my heat pump blow cool air sometimes?+
It is defrosting. The outdoor coil ices in cold damp weather and the system briefly reverses to clear it. A few minutes is normal; a permanent draft is not.
Why is my heat pump covered in ice?+
A thin layer of frost in cold, damp weather is normal and the defrost cycle clears it. A thick block of ice that stays points to a defrost, sensor, airflow or refrigerant problem.
What is auxiliary or emergency heat costing me?+
Electric strips use several times the power of the heat pump itself. They are meant to assist in a cold snap, not run daily — if yours is always on, something is wrong.
Should I repair or replace an old heat pump?+
It depends on age, the repair cost, and whether the compressor or reversing valve is the failed part. We put both prices in writing, and give a free second opinion if you already have a quote.
Do you work on dual-fuel systems?+
Yes — heat pumps paired with a gas furnace, and heat pumps with electric strips, from every major brand.
