Improve Your Home with These Indoor Air Quality Products

May 16, 2025

Poor indoor quality is more than an inconvenience. A recent WebMD article states that as the cooling season begins, indoor air quality could actually be worse than outdoor air quality, and could adversely affect your health.

With spring right around the corner in San Antonio, TX, now is the time to eliminate sources of air pollution from your home. Pollutants include pet dander, dust mites, tree pollen, mold, and more. We’ve highlighted various products below that can work hand-in-hand with your existing HVAC system to improve your indoor air quality.

Air Filters/ Cleaners

The most basic solution for air filtration is an air filter. Typically, the air filter that comes standard with your HVAC system is not designed to boost indoor air quality. Installing an air filter with a higher MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rating will help keep airborne pollutants from entering your home.

A more advanced option is an electronic air cleaner. These work by giving an electrical charge to airborne pollutants, which causes them to stick to a metal collector plate, or the walls and surfaces of the living space, until they are cleaned off.

Humidifiers/Dehumidifiers

The wrong amount of humidity could result in adverse effects on not only your home but your health. You need the right amount of humidity in the air for your home to be as comfortable as possible.

A dehumidifier could help reduce the stuffy and uncomfortable feeling your home gets in warmer weather. It can also reduce the growth of mold or mildew. Alternatively, if your home feels dry and/or you frequently suffer from a dry throat and itchiness, a humidifier is your solution.

UV Germicidal Lights

UV germicidal lights utilize a small, safe amount of ultraviolet radiation to target and destroy biological pollutants contaminating your ductwork. The benefit of this over traditional air filtration systems is that it can be used to reach the cool, dark environment within your air ducts.
